About the Artist

An experienced art therapist, Judith Kerns Morris, knows the power painting holds to suggest a story, or stir a long-forgotten memory. Her sensuous language of color and brushstroke evoke feelings directly, and her symbols emerge unhampered by intellectual notions of “proper" perspective.

She mingles ancient icons from Asia, Europe, and Meso-America with familiar forms she learned as the daughter of a Midwest estate auctioneer. Memories of lawns and screened porches, summer’s first iced tea, and luscious fruit join images of petroglyphs, Quan Yin, and the Dark Virgin.

“My hope is to share some joy and magic with others,” Ms. Morris explains, “to intimate a romantic idea, and or tender thought, to catch us up in laughter, or to render us in that moment when we are just ALIVE.”
